It’s my first time in the Twin Cities and that means I can’t wait to get out there and explore as much as possible. Unfortunately, things are going a little slower than expected due to lack of reliable transportation. I’ve been fortunate so far and a number of locals have been willing to give me rides but planning anything in advance, including my next destination, has definitely more difficult.
However, my first evening in town I had an exciting dinner at the Town Talk Diner in downtown Minneapolis with a local couple.
Exciting for two reasons…one, the menu had offerings like duck prosciutto salad and a brat burger along with a fantastic array of creative potables where each ingredient is made in house. Two, during the course of conversation, my dining companions explained that they could help me get an inexpensive flight to my next destination. Apparently airline employees are able to use a limited number of “buddy passes” each year for inexpensive flights and they were willing to hook me up with one. Now all I need to do is find someone willing to trade for the $100 fee.
If you’d like to trade here is how it would work. You would be sending the money to this couple who are going to book the flight for me at this heavily discounted rate. I will then have you pick some Groupons from my stash and I’ll email them to you. If you’re interested please comment below!
In anticipation of this trip, I’m also looking for places to stay in the Seattle area. I could be heading that way as soon as the beginning of next week!
Thanks everyone!

Will the couple take Paypal?
I’m in Chicago. I think I can help you, would need a few sweet groupons….:)
What Groupons do you have for the Atlanta area? I might be able to help you out with the cost of the buddy pass!
Also, when are you coming to Atlanta – so many great things to see/do… and I am sure plenty of groupons!
What do you have for Cincinnati?!
Seattle….Nice! Then I hope to the San Francisco Bay Area before Sept. (I will be gone most of Sept.) I have a great convertible MINI to see the sights! Don’t worry…it’s got a lot of leg room! lol
I hope your time in the Twin Cities is fun! I used to live there and it is a great area!
Liz – Yes they will! What kind of Chicago Groupons would you be interested in?
Nikelle – I have lots of Atlanta Groupons…what types are you into?
Jessica – My Cincinnati supply is a little low but…I’ve got a bunch for kid’s activities, carpet cleaning, home interior design, dentist, fitness classes, bowling, water park, golf and a little bit of food.
Diane – I’m probably not going to hit California on this trip…but I’ll certainly get there. Thanks for the offer…hopefully I can take you up on that later!
What do you have left in the DC / Baltimore area?
What are the rules for leaving America? Cause I’ll give you NZ$100
Josh, I live in Chicago’s NW suburbs, and I’m definitely interested in working out a trade with you for this deal, or for an airline gift card.
I would be most interested in Chicago suburb Groupons (restaurants, services), some city restaurants, too.
I’m not too picky, but it’s sometimes a challenge for me to get downtown.
Hi Josh! I’ve been following you on your journey, and have been anxiously awaiting news that you’re coming to Seattle! Let me know if you need a place to stay – I live on Capitol Hill, a fabulous neighborhood directly east of the downtown core.
Hi Josh,
I’m here in Minneapolis and would love to help you out with this in exchange for some of your Minneapolis Groupons! Let me know if you still need help with this and we’ll figure out how to make it work!
Thanks,
Julie
Looks like you got to Cafe Maude in my old neighborhood in SW Mpls. Only the locals know about that place, but we sure enjoyed it. Hope you did too.
So sorry that I missed you while you were in MSP. Town talk Diner is like a block from my old house. GOOD LUCK!!
Josh – What do you have in the Oklahoma City area? Any plans to come here this trip? I can hook you up with a place to stay!
Be more than happy to trade with you to get you to St. Louis. Megabus also travels out of St. Louis, so you could leave from here. Would also put you up and could probably get you interviewed on one or more of the local shows. I would love to promote you and Groupons in St. Louis. Bought one this morning, in fact.
Heading down to Long Beach, CA? My wife and I just published books. We’ll give you copies and make you something from my wife’s cookbook, Yumi’s Yummies. (Mine is a novel, Gaijin Teacher; Foreign Sensei).
