Day 74

Where to next???

I am currently in Louisville, KY which is just over an hour from Cincinnati, OH. This is noteworthy because it will put me back in the Megabus Midwest network. Considering this, what city should I start heading towards next? I’m working with a few guidlines:

1) Heat = Sad Josh ; Heat + Humidity = Miserable Josh

2) I don’t want to be in particularly cold cities in the winter…heavy clothes…are well…heavy by definition and I’m carrying all my stuff.

3) Megabus is by far my most convenient form of transportation since it’s FREE!

I'm heading to Cincinnati in a few days...then what?

4) I’d greatly prefer to go to a city with a large contingent of followers who want to meet up and show me around.

It’s all in your hands now….

  1. The Mess says:

    CHICAGO!!!!!!!!!!

  2. You’re welcome in St. Louis. I’m even willing to let you crash on my couch.

  3. i’m with mess on this one. no bias here.

  4. Enjoyed meeting tonight in “the Ville,” Josh! Thanks for sharing part of your evening.

  5. Yea head back to your home town for a bit…Chicago is awesome. Are there any coupons for hot dougs? I was there for 4 months last year and never quite managed to get there. Then I was intended on going back in March but I broke my knee just a couple of weeks before and had to fly home to New Zealand…..so what I am saying is CHICAGO!

  6. Valla Ann Bolovschak says:

Good Morning! For all of you out there, Josh is a VERY considerate and lovely house guest, so please invite him!

  7. I’d say head for the east coast. the boston groupon is pretty amazing

  8. That’s not where Minneapolis is… I think your map needs a little help. :)

  9. Come and check out Minneapolis! It’s beautiful here this time of year!

  10. what about st. louis? i heard it’s a blast there and i know someone who might have connections!

  11. Kansas City!

  12. Go to KC, because then you’re just a hop away from Denver. ;)

  13. I hope you’ll come back to Boston sometime – I wasn’t here the first time and I bet we could bring out another great group for a second pass.

  14. Chicago!

  15. You should go to AKRON!!!

  16. I’ve always wanted to go to Minneapolis…I could live vicariously through your trip! Plus Mall of America…just throwing it out there :-)

  17. Cori B. says:

I think you should hit Indianapolis and then head up to Chicago. Nothing better in the world that Chicago in the summer time!

  18. Head to VA next lots of cool places to visit Williamsburg,Jamestown , Richmond, Luray Caverns, Crabtree Falls ect ect…..

  19. Christina says:

Don’t know what the weather is like to the north right now–maybe head that way? Definitely wait to do the Missouri and Iowa part of your trip until Fall. Currently HOT HOT HOT!

  20. Having grown up in the Minneapolis area, I say check it out, but maybe wait for the fall…it’s sticky hot right now, and you do NOT want to be there in the winter. But it’s a great place. Also, if you go around Labor Day, the MN State Fair is the BEST.

  21. Another Chicago vote!!!

  22. Aloysius says:

    Hey,
did you go to the Twin Cities yet?

    Miss ya, buddy

  23. Aloysius says:

go to Twin Cities. Shouldn’t be too hot or humid, and it’s such a gorgeous city.

  24. Sorry, St Louis is out. You’d be sad and miserable. Hit us up in the fall and I’d be happy to point out some fun and interesting places

  25. Denver is a best bet for #1 and #2. It’s not a Megabus stop but it’s totally worth it. There is a large group of followers out here. Our humidity rarely gets above 40% and our winters are SO mild. We don’t plow our side streets, we just wait two or 3 days and all the snow MELTS!

  26. Shannon says:

Go to the Twin Cities – but try to go around the end of August so you can also go to the great MN get together (MN State Fair)!

  27. California is nice this time of year! Mas Sake Sushi in the Marina is having a great deal right now too!

  28. If you go to Minneapolis (highly recommend – great city), stop in Madison along the way. It’s surprisingly nice with a lot going on!

  29. Come to San Francisco! If you stop a lot of places first, you’ll get here just as the fog is burning off (July sucks).

  30. Shari Crawford says:

Absolutely Twin Cities. Fabulous weather, people and food!!

  31. Amanda B says:

    I vote the Twin Cities!

PS We have a mutual friend! Shayna B and I grew up in the same town in WI. I’ve known her and her fam for ages!

  32. The Twin Cities! It can be warm here in the summer, but it’s still beautiful!

  33. I’d love to have you in Kansas City. But it’s HOT and HUMID here. But, of course, you have to get here before winter…because it’s COLD. We’re all about extremes. When you come, make sure you have the Blanc Burger Groupon. You don’t want to miss Blanc!

  34. Go to the Twin Cities! Great time of year here!!!

  35. LOS ANGELES!!!!

  36. I’d say someplace like Cleveland, Toledo, Minneapolis, Milwaukee while it’s hot. And Denver. Then head to Texas, Austin specifically, when it’s cooler. Austin loves you!

  37. I know you say boo heat but I say Atlanta! We aren’t THAT bad down here yet.. and I say, you better end up here now before it DOES get stupid hot! :D

  38. James Wilson says:

    come to Colorado Springs

  39. Okay, I missed you the first time you came to Columbus, so if you swing back I’d love to help host you, and you can decide further after that. I’m driving to Chicago on August 5th (evening) or 6th (morning) so you’re welcome to hitch a ride if you’d like. The Twin Cities are really fun in the summer, might as well hit there before it gets cold, too… I’ve been in Madison and Milwaukee really liked it in the summer. Madison was pretty chill w/o all the students, and Milwaukee was just fun. Let me know if I can help!

  40. Actually, I’m on facebook which might make it easier for you to contact me… I didn’t realize that I could have connected with the previous comment. Sorry about that.

  41. I can’t imagine a prettier place in August than Minneapolis-Saint Paul.

  42. I would say come to KC, but its still pretty humid & hot. Twin Cities is probably the best idea!

  43. Obviously Chicago fails on humidity & cold winters but I hope you make a trip back here soon!!

  44. Jim Remer says:

There are a lot of groupon people in San Francisco and people here have to figure out how to do things more cheaply as it is such an expensive place to live. I would be happy to go out for a few groupon meals.

  45. Hi-

I wrote on your facebook about this too, but you really should come to Minneapolis. I know that my friends and I are all wayyyy into groupon, and have been watching your progress, and would love to take you out! I just graduated from law school, and am taking the bar exam this Tuesday and Wednesday, so I will need something fun to do after that anyway!

It is freezing here starting in November, so you don’t want to come then, and we are a Megabus stop! Seems like the perfect fit!

  46. forex robot says:

Great site. A lot of useful information here. I’m sending it to some friends!

  47. AUSTIN!

  48. 7thpluimer says:

Josh–I highly recommend Denver CO. Not too hot, not too cold, not too humid. I’ve lived in Minneapolis and this is NOT where you want to be this time of year. Let me know when you make it to the Mile High city—I have a spare room available

  49. Come to St. Louis in the fall when the weather is cooler!
