Day 30

Back in NYC for Internet Week

Week 5 begins with a quick flight back to NYC where a nice couple newly relocated to Brooklyn put me up for the night. Their apartment is cute and they have an amazing view of the Manhattan skyline from their rooftop deck. Tom cooked up some dinner and we sat around talking for a couple hours before everyone turned in for the night. At the moment, Diana is at work, Tom is at the gym, and I just took a shower forgetting that I have not yet acquired a towel #awkward. I guess I hadn’t needed one yet, between hotels and the other people I’ve stayed with it just hadn’t been an issue. I used one of my t-shirts instead and draped it over a chair to dry. I’m thinking I should borrow a towel from the next hotel I stay at.

Tonight is the 2010 Webutante Ball and I’m pretty excited and curious about this little shindig. If you go to the bottom of the event’s website there is a funky little symbol that informs you that if you download a particular iPhone app and point your camera at the symbol, it will give you the info on how to RSVP for the exclusive after party. Of course I tried this…talk about feeling like a secret agent…it was pretty exhilarating. I got the secret code deciphered…emailed the newly acquired address and am currently waiting for a response…I may have sounded too excited in my e-mail. One little catch about this function…I found out last night that the dress code is cocktail attire…hmmm…don’t have anything like that in my bag. I’ll spend the rest of the afternoon trying to secure some new threads and hopefully they won’t bounce me if I show up in jeans and a t-shirt.

More updates from internet week coming soon! Signing off.

  1. Do you still have your paper jacket? I bet that counts as cocktail attire.

  14. Johnson Matthey Gold Bars says:

I was scanning something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read to begin with. I am still reflecting over the different points of view, but I’m tipped to a great extent toward yours. And irrespective, that’s what is so super about contemporary democracy and the marketplace of thoughts on-line.

  15. Catherine says:
